Toast 6 can not burn DVDs so this is not good. It wants to "convert" VIDEO_TS folders that are straight from DVDBackup or DVD2OneX. Then it reports it failed to "convert"

Also are there any other apps that don't run right, MS Office, PS 7, Digital performer 4.1, Sibelius 2.1 and/or 3.0, any games that don't behave, anything? And I expect the old Themes will have to be updated which is a shame because some always get left behind. I hope Snow and Aluminum and Smoothstripes make it! As well as Milk and Cappuccino!

A quick question for all you lucky Panther Players....

Does Mail.app still have the bug (to me) that if you take a move a message from an inbox into a folder, it loses the account to which it was sent?

I have a few things (mailing lists) filtered into folders, but when I go to reply to those mailing lists messages it uses my default (the first of 7) email accounts and sometimes I don't see it until I have already sent. It should (IMHO) remember that this message came from account B and when you reply to it it should use account B not A.

    Anyone?

    BZ

Are you making sure you're burning in data mode with the advanced tab and dvd-rom(UDF) selected instead of Video mode? Video mode will try to author an encode media if people do not already have the files in the correct format. The data mode will burn correctly if you already have the correct files such as the video_ts folder.

don't know if this has been discussed in this thread, can't view all 27 pages. but here is my problem

os x 10.3 build 7b85 on a g4/400 yikes, main video card is a radeon mac card, running a lg 17" flatron, that display works fine, second display is on a ati xclaim 3d 8mb card running a 15" viewsonic 15gs monitor.

My problem is even in the os x installer booting off the cd, the 15" monitor is in some strange resolution and looks like its in 16 colors, it's un-usable.

I tried changed the 15 monitor video card for a voodoo 3 card, exact same problem. Tried a fresh install on a empty drive, same thing.

Tried reseting the p-ram too. I can't change the options in the displays pref pane, it's stuck in 256 colors and 1280x1024 resolution, no other options.

Never had this problem in 10.0->10.2.28 this is a new thing in panther, i sure hope this is not the gm, because i really want to use panther regularly, it's so much faster than 10.2.8 ever was.

    HELP?

If you're a developer with a seed key, file a bug and see if it gets fixed in 10.3.x.

If you're not a developer with a seed key, you're on your own.

Depends on how one defines "last week". The last stretch of days on the calender for October occupies six days, the 31st being on a Friday.

    Pixlet?

(I don't have any Panther builds, so I can't answer your main point.)

Does Exporting to Pixlet benefit anyone else besides Pixar employees? I mean, could an average shmo just export all his movie files to Pixlet and save a ton of space? Or is it not that good for us average people?

pixlet is for film studios who routinely deal with video that is up to 75mb/sec. pixlet allows this to be compressed down to 3mb/sec with little visual loss in quality and the video scrubs very smoothly. as far as i can tell, it is useless to the consumer, i was messing around with it and taking the bandwidth down to around 400k/sec looks worse than a 70k divx movie. Why they are hyping this for panther is beyond me as the average joe and even most of us here will never use it.

That's what I'm wondering! They make it sound like anyone could just export all their video to this format and have really good looking small files. But in reality, it is totally useless. I STILL don't get it. Is this .NET or something? I don't get it!

Please, people, if you're going to discuss Pixlet, use the thread Barto posted. Although it is new with Panther, its use is not directly related to the discussion here (updates on the builds of Panther). Take it elsewhere.

I saw Panther on a friends iBook 600 and its great!

There ARE a couple qwirks here and there though.

for example, on the desktop (1024x768) you cant put icons on the far left of the screen. They leave a really big gap. If you try and get icons closer to the edge, sometimes they stick on the far side, but when you click anywhere on the desktop, they snap away. Its really odd.

    Anyone else seen this happen?

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but Text edit now has a 'Complete' function - Alt-Esc. Start typing a word, hit that key combo, and you get a dropdown list of words that start with what you typed. Great for long words that you're not sure how to spell.

Oh, and Exchange support in Mail is excellent. And LDAP integration in Address Book (and Mail) - Our corporate address LDAP system has thousands of people in it. I don't even know how many - there are like 1800+ 'Smith's in there ! Anyway, searching is instantaneous (although, obvisously, 1800 Smiths do take a few seconds to load and be displayed ) ! This is actually miles better than MS Outlook. Nice one Apple !

Yep, same here on a TiBook (667Mhz) running 7B80. It's been like that since the first release that I installed (7B28 ) if I remember correctly. I always assumed it would get corrected before the final version.

Sorry for causing the confusion. I was refering to an application (program) that helped QuickTime not a codec. I think I saw information about this application on MacRumors, but cannot find it now. Anyways, I checked out 7B86 and the application was not there, probably someone uploaded a fake pic.
