ftp server in os x 10.2
Just currious if anyone has any idea how to properly set up the ftp server in mac os 10.2 I purchased 10.2 server also and had great success in setting up the ftp server on it, but the problem is that i found that several programs i want to use arent compatible with 10.2 server only with 10.2. Anyways, I got the server software because I was told that in the regular 10.2 you cant set priveledges for users to have access to only certain folders. Is this correct? Or can I make a john Doe have folder A and Jane Doe have folder B. Etc...
Anyways any help on this would be great
Oh Ya, and can i have the folders of any drive that is connected to my mac, for example an external raid or something like that.
thanks

1. Set the FTP server to show only home folders
2. Set the user home folder to be the folder in question (any folder is fine)
This way when a person logs in then they log directly into that folder and can't back out.
Set the privs accordingly of course adn you're set. This can cause problems for User home folders on the server so you might want to consider setting up FTP accounts just for some users instead of relying on the usual accounts you create.
The main reason being is that the FTP service runs a CHROOT environment and is not totally integrated into the rest of the system. You end up working around some stuff because of this. I'm hoping in the future that Apple uses ProFTP instead as its much more secure.
in the File Services pdf document you can find out those kind of things.
