Help me--my ipod is outta control!

bah! EVERY time i plug my ipod into my eMac, that stupid disc symbol comes up and tries to go through some searching process.. i tried doing a software restore, then i let it go through its own process, but apparently it feels it has to do it EVERY time!!!! your thoughts?

    Your drive might be broken. Try disc utility located in the Utilities folder inside the Applications folder. See if it can mount the drive. Otherwise take it back to Apple.

    I've had similar problems. It was just a matter of unplugging and replugging to fix it most times but 2.1 seems to have fixed it completely.
