Panther: trouble installing a software update (need admin rights?)

I am trying to install an update to a license control software for panther but when I run the installer I get the following message which prevents me from doing the install.





"You are not allowed to install the software in the defaul location on the volume "Macintosh HD". Check with the administrator of your computer."







I am the only user of this computer and have administrator privleges. Anyone know how to make it so it lets me complete the installation?
