Weird Software Update behavior

I have a 15" LCD iMac, and I'm running Panther. Starting after I upgraded and now every time since then, whenever Software Update checks for new updates to download, the iMac Superdrive Update 1.0 shows up in the list. I downloaded it when I first saw it after upgrading to Panther, but after starting the process of installing it a window popped up saying I don't need the update. Regardless, every time I run Software Update, there it is. Anyone know what's going on?

I'm guessing you either clean installed Panther or archive-and-installed it and your installation Receipts are gone. What's that mean? Eh, it's not important. Anyhow...

Next time it shows in software update, select it and press apple-delete. That'll make it so it doesn't show up in the list.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks, Brad. I could have sworn I'd already installed that update whenever it first came out, so I was surprised to see it again. You're correct, I did an archive and install.

    Command-Delete it is.
