    Edit-I feel your pain, progmac:

Houses in my town have been INVADED by ladybug looking Asian Beetles each of the last two falls.

They were introduced to eat soybean aphids but when they take the beans out it's an epidemic-I'm talking Hitchcock here.

On the first day of harvest we had 50+ in our house. They were thick in the air outside. The only way we can control them is to sweep them up in a Shopvac.

The worst thing is when they land on you their claws hurt like hell!

We're all waiting for that first hard frost.

actually that's not their claws, they're biting you. they're all starving because they have no regular food available any more.

Maybe sometimes, but it's usually a pinch.

I only wish these things starved that fast!

I should make a video on the really heavy days next year-you have to see it to believe it.

Really, they don't pinch or bite all that often (though you know when they do) there're just here. They also don't smell very good and leave orange-ish stains around.

The harvest coincided with an Indian summer which I think made it all the worse-they love sun-drenched houses to claim for their own over the winter.

I seem to remember we burnt the legs off of one when it was in my sink....my God that was a long time ago. However I've never felt better about torturing something in my life.

Ceti Alpha six exploded and the blast knocked the once beautiful Ceti Alpha 5 out of it's normal orbit. So they thought it was 6, but it was really five.

At least that's what I think. I'm not exactly a trekkie, so I haven't committed this to memory. I just really love "The Wrath of Khan" and have seen it perhaps too many times.

we were so freaked out by the site of one late one night that we caught one and took it to the local museum entymologist (sp?) to identify it.

moves with wicked speed, and all those legs kind of wave as it scurries along, making it look really alien in nature. especially common in basement apartments and furnace rooms in winter, due to the extra heat and insulation. utterly harmless, and incredibly fragile (they practically disintegrate when you squash 'em).

i thought this was a silverfish

Uh oh.... you do realize the Centipede peoples have a long memory...(giant centipede, lurking in alley) "Remember me, Mr. Argento? Your kitchen? Some years ago? When you try to kill a centipede, Mr. Argento, you'd best finish the job"

As they're insects, I'd hope they do! The do have a pair of long antennae and "tails" that might look like extra legs though. But yeah, that centipede looks nothing like a silverfish.

I've got so many weird bugs in my place...I should snap some pics with a camera...

I seen this bug for the first time in my life this past summer and I dont know what it is. It looks like a tiny white mouse with wings.

anyone familiar with this cute little bug?

I wish the photos were more focused.

My cat loves to chase and eat those centepede things..... but the one thing that bothers me about this apartment is that I've now found 3 scorpions. Thankfully they were already dead, but it's still a little unnerving.
