connect to VPN through command line

What do I have to do, to connect to my VPN location with the command line.

I want to try this because the graphical interface doesn't react sometimes, unless I reboot.

    Open Terminal

    you can ftp ,telnet or ssh the ip address of machine in VPN.

    Mount an NFS mount with mount vpnip:/some_export /mountdir
