AppleWorks freezes

Starting a few days ago, AppleWorks freezes about every 20 seconds for about 5 seconds. The procesor usage goes up to 100% and by using the top command in the terminal, I figured out that it is AppleWorks using the processor. This is very annoying and gets in the way of my work because I need to stop and wait in the middle of typing a sentence. I am using AppleWorks 6.2.7 and this problem started when I was using 10.2.8 and continued after I upgraded to 10.3. If anybody knows what could be causign this, please help me.

I would trash the application preferences. They are likely located under system/library/applicationsupport/appleworks

Removing the preferences which are in ~/Library/Preferences didn't help.

Trash your caches. ~/library/caches. Where ~ is your home folder. Trash EVERYTHING in the folder. May fix up your problem. If not, repair permissions. For info on how to do that, consult this thread: http://forums.appleinsider.com/showt...threadid=32364
