Seems to work OK with the files I've tried.

You have no idea how long I've been waiting for this. Thank you, Fluffy.

I hope this means I can finally view all the WM crud on NHL.com. I'll have to wait a while to find, damned WM Installer just froze. Bleh.

    Hmm...doesn't seem very different...

I only dl'd it to listen to streams that don't use QT.....from what i can tell it looks exactly like the old version. I feel...uninspired.

Explain to me why it needs my password to install? It's a media player, not a kernel extension.

The only reason I care about it is that I have a folder full of vids that VLC and mplayer won't play. They all work great with WMP9. I think the new brushed metal look is too dull (what's wrong with just using the system appearance?) but other than that it works fine for me.

I installed it merely for compatibility. I wish websites would just stop using WMP and standardize around Quicktime.

Eeep! Some codec didn't install. Sound doesn't work on one of my files anymore. Bummer.

Indeed. I was fooled by the Application Not Responding message when I clicked on the icon in the Dock. It installed just fine. But I still can't access any video on nhl.com. Damn You Windows Media Player! Damn You!

Hm, one video worked fine for me at NHL.com, others didn't.

    This one did:

    Best Play

    This one didn't:

    Cool shots

And this one didn't work either:

    Creative Plays of the Week

Here's web page that comes up from those two links in Safari anyway:

Leave it to MS to turn a simple movie clip into something approaching rocket science.

i can't even install the thing.

installer says it has 510 items remaining and says it's searching my hard drive... been doing so for 20 min. i've force quit and re-tried a few times. no dice.

update: i let it continue "searching" for about 35 min and suddenly it said the install was sucessful, and indeed it was. Weird.

Well the player is somewhat useful, I guess. I just used it to watch the Sriek 2 trailer. Pretty lame otherwise, though.

2nd time lucky for me. Try delete the installer prefs. One welcome bug fix, it now minimizes to the dock when 2x clicking the app title bar.

Glad to see WMP9 finally for mac and it seems to be okay. One problem though is when site use streaming video stuff. the page now loads with WMP (which it didnt before) but it now come up with a message saying 'cannot open the file. Verify the path and filename are correct and try again'. This happend both in safari and explorer. Back to the P.C. to use these sites. Doesn't happen on all site though, just the ones which seem to open WMP built into the web page and not open WMP in its own window.

    Hope this makes sense.
