usb optical mouse problem

When ever I plug in any usb optical mouse into my Powerbook 12inch gigger, If I dont move the mouse for about 5 seconds, it pauses and wont move untill i move around the mouse for alittle bit. This pause is really annoying. I tested it on my brother's IBM thinkpad, and it works like it should. Is this a PowerBook problem? Anyone have this problem? What is going on???

    I found the problem. My desk is black and when I have the mouse on black, it will display this symptom. When I use the mouse on a paper or something different color, it will work.
