Does anyone here know if one can use any IDE HDs in an xserve? I know you have to have the Apple drive sleds, but 180 GB drives + sleds are $500. Seems a bit steep.
I haven't tried any disks as I don't have a test XServer and I won't risk my production boxes, but I want to see if the 250GB drives fit/run etc. You can get them for about $400.
