Blue Dalmatian

Does anyone have any inside info on 'blue dalmatian'? Apple filed a trademark for this. They also filed one for "junkyard" on 12th July. Both are categorised as "hardware/software/peripherals". Same category as Rendezvous.

I actually stumbled on the Rendezvous filing three days before MWNY. didn't think much of it but was surprised when Jobs announced the technology.

So maybe 'blue dalmatian' and junkyard are something as well. <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />

I thought we happiliy survived the "blue dalmatian" and "flower power" hold-over iMacs introduced at MW Tokyo. But well, why not us the molding technology already invested in.

Didn't know JD was working for Apple... but back to topic: Junkyard could be the name for a .Mac-service collecting all the refined rules for Jaguar's spam-filter.

He announced Rendezvous when he previewed Jaguar at WWDC on May 6. Though nobody paid too much attention, what with all the screaming about which video cards would support Quartz Extreme.

I was thinking about the patterns the other day. Wasn't the story that they (Apple) "spent 18 months perfecting..." this injection process?

Then they kinda shot their wad on two iMacs that received, at best, lukewarm response and popularity.

Makes you wonder if all that 18 months was in vain, OR if the two freaky iMacs were merely secret public tests (been almost a year-and-a-half since their unveiling, and maybe Apple engineers/designers are keeping an eye on them to see if patterns/plastics hold and keep?).

Makes you wonder if they had something bigger in mind than a polka-dotted and a Jefferson Airplane-approved iMac?

Can't imagine what it could be.

ACTUALLY (this just hit me as I typed the last sentence), the ONE thing in Apple's lineup that would make sense (or be cool to see) in patterns would be, you guessed it, the iPod.

People's tastes in music are so unique, it would seem the iPod - which ultimately represents a very personal attachment for the owner and what they have on it - would be a fine candidate for funky finishes or "skins".

You know how all those cel phones have those covers in gazillions of different styles?

I'm actually pretty shocked that some savvy company hasn't come out with little slide-on or snap-on iPod covers in various colors, designs, etc. like cel phones have available to them.

You could do it in a cool plastic thing (cel phone face plate material, basically) AND incorporate a belt-clip and/or armband into it.

Swirls, pearloids, colors, patterns, graphics, anime, characters, abstract designs, etc.

Think about it...bet that would go over pretty well. ESPECIALLY now that all the bazillions of PC/Windows users in the world are now elible to start buying them!

SHIT!!! I just gave away a really cool idea! Some dipstick will take it and run with it and retire to some island in two years at 29 years of age.

    No, no.

He'll start a company, get all the tooling set up to manufacture. Spend a wad on advertising, just in time to see Apple release OFFICIAL iPod covers.

Then he'll retire to the mall where he'll sell shoes to try and pay off his debt.
