I expect faster macs for the same price. How's that for cool - more bang for the buck

It would be cool to see something totally new, though. Like a 64-bit CPU with on-chip memory (Like Athlons will have by christmas).

I wouldn't put it beyond Apple to skip a generation of computer developmet, especially since they have been using last gen. hardware (SDRam, ata-66 etc.) for so long they are going to have to just to keep up!

Do not post pictures. If you want to trade them between yourselves outside of AI then we have nothing to do with that. But NO LINKS, NO PICS.

    Thanks.

I opened one of the posted Pics in Photoshop 7.0.

The color selection tool clearly has straight edges in many places. Either the picture has been resized from a very small picture, it was originally a low res JPEG, or the picture was created and not taken.

As long as it isn't the same G4 parts in a new box, I will be buying one reguardless of what it looks like.

Well if these machines are going to need a 7lb heat sink to keep cool, maybe we can all take up cooking.

Just a clarification on PowerPC's post.

    133MHz Front Side Bus:

    6x 800MHz 6.5x 866MHz

    7x 933MHz 7.5x 1000MHz

    8x 1066MHz 8.5x 1133MHz

    9x 1200MHz 9.5x 1266MHz

    10x 1333MHz 10.5x 1400MHz

    11x 1466MHz 11.5x 1533MHz

    12x 1600MHz

    166MHz Front Side Bus:

    5x 833MHz 5.5x 916MHz

    6x 1000MHz 6.5x 1083MHz

    7x 1166MHz 7.5x 1250MHz

    8x 1333MHz 8.5x 1416MHz

    9x 1500MHz 9.5x 1583MHz

    10x 1666MHz 10.5x 1750MHz

    11x 1833MHz 11.5x 1916MHz

    12x 2000MHz

133MHz Double Data Rate Front Side Bus (266MHz effective):

    3x 800MHz 3.5x 933MHz

    4x 1066MHz 4.5x 1200MHz

    5x 1333MHz 5.5x 1466MHz

    6x 1600MHz 6.5x 1733MHz

    7x 1866MHz 7.5x 2000MHz

    8x 2133MHz 8.5x 2266MHz

    9x 2400MHz 9.5x 2533MHz

    10x 2666MHz 10.5x 2800MHz

    11x 2933MHz 11.5x 3066MHz

    12x 3200MHz

166MHz Double Data Rate Front Side Bus (333MHz effective):

    2.5x 833MHz

    3x 1000MHz 3.5x 1166MHz

    4x 1333MHz 4.5x 1500MHz

    5x 1666MHz 5.5x 1833MHz

    6x 2000MHz 6.5x 2166MHz

    7x 2333MHz 7.5x 2500MHz

    8x 2666MHz 8.5x 2833MHz

    9x 3000MHz 9.5x 3166MHz

    10x 3333MHz 10.5x 3500MHz

    11x 3666MHz 11.5x 3833MHz

    12x 4000MHz

Just so the silly numbers are possible.

Myself, I would bet on a max clockspeed less than or equal to 1500MHz.

Does the type of RAM affect the multiplier ratio? I thought a 133 MHz bus would need the same multiplier for 1 GHz regardless of the type of RAM.

This is correct. The CPU-to-FSB clock ratio is always given in multiples of the base FSB frequency, not of the doubled (DDR) or quadrupled (QDR) effective frequency.
