Yes, August 23rd the eMac will receive a bump ro a 933 Mhz G4 processor, a GeFprce 4MX and an 18" screen. There you have it, plan accordingly.
why bother with the eMac? You're just going make a fool of yourself! Get the new 17 inch widescreen iMac instead!
BobtheTomatoe you're just speculating aren't you? It'd be cool if this happened!
While it is necessary for an upgrade, pc133, new graphics card, Video card, and RAM, I have a hard time believing it will be announced.
I'd say a few months yet before its updated, I'm sure it will remain slightly below the iMac, so use that as a meter for the emac.

All I can say is:
Buy. Buy. Buy. Buy.
I am typing on one now .. and it is the most value for money Mac EVER produced. It is dirt cheap, fairly ugly, well built, great flat monitor (for a CRT), very quick, superb speakers.
Forgot to mention: BUY THE STAND !!!! You have to. It's expensive but necessary.
Oh this machine won't be updated for a while yet .. it only shipped to me a few weeks ago.

I agree with blowing out the budget and getting a widescreen iMac, though.
Even at US$2K, it's teh winner of the bunch.

No, I'm not speculating, I'm being sarcastic
Apple typically updates products every 6 months. The flat panel iMac was introduced in January and it started shipping in February. They updated it with the new 17 inch wide screen here in July, so that's 7 or 6 months, depending on how you look at it.
The eMac was intoduced in April or May (someone help me here) so a September or October update is possible. Of course, at it's price, there is not much more Apple can add to it.

Yeah, but remember that the eMac is meant for education, even if it is now also sold to the public. So, I would think its update cycles would coincide with education buying cycles. And isn't September/October right after schools start, so wouldn't that be one of the worst times for an update?
i was thinking about buying an emac too, but i'm going to hold out and see what the new powermacs have to offer.
That's a heck of a jump - from an eMac to a PowerMac. Why not consider an iMac too?

Anyway... I Digress. I think you should wait until Seybold, it wouldn't surprise me if Apple released an updated eMac for Businesses sometime either at Seybold or before Seybold. Its an outside chance, but its worth waiting a month. I've been waiting 4 years for my G5......
