None that I'm aware of. My plan, in a year or so, is to replace my tower and laptop with a new 12" PowerBook. I'll keep my 17" display for general computing and get either a Cinema Display or a widescreen TV with DVI input for watching movies, whichever looks like the better choice at the time. Most of the widescreen HDTVs I've looked at have DVI.

Edit: I was wrong about everything I said. I apologize and would like to inform everyone that I am retarded.

Yes there are other widescreen LCDs available, not that they're cheap though:

Samsung 172W LCD ($529 at Newegg):

    Sony 17" LCD:

I'm about to buy a Formac 20.1" NOT widescreen screen. I wanted a wide one, but will settle for 'less.'

    Any suggestions or advice?

Apple's LCD offerings really aren't on the forefront of bleeding edge LCD technological advancements. For the spec whores, Apple's LCDs often leave a bit to be desired, not to mention that the articulation of the displays suck; you can have it tilted slightly upward, or even more upward. Don't even get me started on how none of Apple's displays are VESA compliant.

I personally run two Silicon Graphics 1600SW widescreen displays. 17.3", 1600x1024, 60ms response time. SGI also produces a newer, 22" version of the display. The 1600SW was discontinued a couple of years ago.
