Your Political Compass

The Political Compass

Anyone run across this site before? It seemed like a fun little exercise, so I took their test. Having two axes to measure political views is much better than an inadequate left/right scale.

Economic Left/Right: -3.75

Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.05

These results were a little surprising to me, since I figured my views would lean into the lower right quadrant of their continuum.

So... how does the average AO poster stack up?

Yeah we've all done that before. We have a bunch of crazy socialists on this board and a couple libertarians...and a goosestepper or two.

    +1 economic

    -2.15 social

... but some questions were ridiculously open-ended.

"Should marijuana be legalized?" Uh...yes AND no...not strong agree/disagree or agree/disagree. The same goes for probably half the other questions.

I wasn't a fan of the questions on that test. Not cool. I didn't quite understand all of them, and as Eugene said, too open ended. I know I'm a republican, I didn't quite get all the explanation of my "political compass". I'm too tired.

Yah, some of the questions were sketchy.\

Time to think happy thoughts and enjoy some coco.

The test is inherently flawed. Socialism and Libertarianism are by definition mutually exclusive.

Some of these questions are retarded. They provide a statement and then ask you to agree or disagree. With the logic of the statement alone, or with it's implications to one of many factors? Bleh.

Only that this quiz is retarded, because I don't see myself as a liberal libertarian, but more of a centrist. And putting Hitler up there is basically a slap in the face to anyone that would score more conservatively.
