iBook G4 keys coming off

Ok guys, WTF??????????????????

I got my ibook recently, like 3 weeks ago. The painted keys on the keyboard are flaking off. I had an iBook 500 before and it never flaked off.

What the hell is going on? Does Apple know about this? I don't think the paint they used really sticks to the keys.

What do I do now????

Are you talking about the LETTERS on the keys, or the actual keys themselves? You kinda make it sound as though it might be either...

In either case, call Apple. What in the world could any of us do?

I don't know the number off the top of my head, but since you're online to post this, I'm guessing a quick trip to apple.com and the support section will provide some info on phone numbers or other contact methods.

There are support forums there too. Maybe this is being talked about there by someone else who has some info on the matter?

Do post if you hear something from Apple. I just got a G4 iBook myself and am curious to know how this plays out. Which model do you have anyhow? The 12" or the 14"?

Using fingernail polish remover while typing isn't a good idea.

    ok guys, called apple.

the guy had to put me through with a 'specialist'.

the specialist looked on record, said this is the first time anything like this has happened.

    so I feel special

I told him I do type a lot so maybe others haven't experienced it yet.

they're sending me a replacement keyboard and the specialist was like, oh shit, I hope this doesn't happen to everyone. because he says they're fairly new.

Now THIS post IS funny. I keep reading it and imagining it with a Joe Pesci delivery.

ok, now you can all laugh, because I'm not worried anymore.

hahahahah, I think it's funny too, especially because the specialist made a joke-

"well, acetone can take it off, but I doubt you have acetone on your fingers because it corrodes your fingers more than the keys"

he's so cool. His name's Travis, we even exchanged some jokes. Apple's so cool. I love Apple.
