Split 8GB file

I have an 8GB Final Cut Pro document that I want to back-up to DVD, but I have to split it. DropSegment works on other files, but I get the error when I try to spli this file. Is There another way?

    Do you have a .Mac account? If so, the free Backup utility would do the job.
