How much faster is the 2.0 dual over the 1.8 dual? I haven't seen any specs on the dual 1.8 yet.

Anyone know?

    Wait until January.

You'll be able to get faster machines for the same price.

    Yes.

Apple has published some benchmarks on his own site, comparing the two.

Note the dismal performance of the 1.8 and 1.6; in one test the MP 1.0 G4 beat the 1.8 Ghz G5!

a big problem right now is that software written doesn't fully utilize the G5.

so these G4/G5 comparisons are pretty accurate for now. but the G5 has the 'potential' for exceding further...dang 64-bitless programs.

    Plus, isn't panther just a intermediary between a 32-bit O.S. and a fully capable 64-bit?

barefeats is known for posting poorly run tests/comparisons.

Kinda par for the course. How can we expect Barefeats to run a decent benchmark when magazines like PC Magazine with far more resource publish articles in 2003 comparing Premiere 6 and Word as legit crossplatform benchmarks. Benchmark is becoming a dirty word.
