Anyway, I wanted to point out, that despite the fact that the pictures apparently don't exist anymore, that there are some suspect dark patches on the side panel of the case.

I showed the pictures to my brother yesterday and he pointed to the side panel, the folding door, and asked "Does that say G5?"

    </strong><hr></blockquote>

The G is decently clear and there appears to be an Apple logo in the center. However, the part of the image where the 5 is too far away to see clearly.

i tend to agree. Think Secret is remarkably accurate, and they pretty much nailed MWNY. MOSR has had some accurate reporting, but they tend to be, um, self influenced... like "Uh... We've had similar photos for several weeks.. we're not surprised by this at all... how dare you imply we got scooped!"

You'll notice MOSR says they had "similar" photos but the phots they posted weren't similar, they were exactly the same! That says to me that MOSR had no photos to begin with.

So, i think Think Secret is closer to the mark. Lets hope they come out with a prediction and reaction to the photos soon.

You think its a 5? I hope so, but I'm not sure enough yet. What do you think the chances are of more photos being leaked? or the possiblity that putting "G5" on the side of a prototype is someone at apple's idea of a cruel cruel Joke?

There's just not enough data to determine what's there. I doubt this is a cruel joke; if it were, the G5 would be more plainly visible.

Think secret did not really nail MWNY. Spymac did. Now that is scary!

MOSR is full of it. They just read that stuff elsewhere, put it in the blender and cite it as a source!?

    You're right.. Cruelty outweighs discretion...

If it is a G5, then do you think that Jaguar will have a 64bit version ready to ship concurrently with the 32 bit version? What will this mean for the forward compatibilty of Apps?

One or two more 'authoratative' sources have gone remarkably quiet. Go figure.

Apple do their 'cease and desist' routine. Obvious.

Hell. After all the fuss, hotair and 'cease and desist' notices...I'd expect something worth keeping a secret to be announced in due course. 1.4 duals with DDR is the least of what to expect based on that kind of cooling...and this amount of fuss.

I'd like to see Apple surprise us...

With the 'Shake' shipping relatively soon...you'd expect 'decent' hardware to correspond with that...wouldn't you?

Afterall, if you're fond of doing bake offs...lets see a 'Shake' bench.

Dual Athlon vs Dual G4 and see which wins, right?

In light of recent benchmarks found on the net...the next 'power'Mac release should really impress... (...and no G4 tower announcement has impressed me since it was first launched...)

    What will August bring...me wonders...

i dont know what to think anymore. i thought the whole disappearing-reappearing thread trick was a joke. i didn't really believe apple's legal had contacted AI or anything (after all, sooooo many people have already seen/copied the pictures). but this remark from Jamie doesn't seem quite so funny.

the forums were lacking their oomph for a while, until these pics surfaced. the fun is back (as someone's already mentioned), but it seems apple has crushed it.

could this be the end of zombie shakespeare...i mean...of rumormongering? is apple going to seek out every somewhat credible leak and plug it?

MacNN is MacNN. AppleInsider is AppleInsider.

I disagree. I think the fact that Apple has gone nuts with the Cease and Desists partially confirms the validity of these photos - which only adds fuel to the disscusion.
