Hey Folks, I'd just like to say that my 2.5 years old B&W G3 350 is still running strong on OS X. I've upgraded the processor to a G4 500 and I've installed a super drive: $500 in incremental upgrades, far less than any new PowerMac.

Oh... In case you were wondering, Zillohertz = 1000GhZ. I doubt that is what they would call it though, since a zillion isn't a real number. </strong><hr></blockquote>

    Or maybe a Yotta...Yotta...Yotta-Byte Harddrive.

    FYI: Peta = 10^15, Yotta = 10^24

Sure, I still believe Macs last longer than PCs. I've been running Jag on my Cube at home with no performance problem whatsoever. The Cube is what, 2 year old technology now? There's no way in hell I'd even consider installing, say, Windows 2000 or XP on my circa-1998 sony vaio. No way.

Maybe I missed something about your timewarp vaio, but your cube is 2 years old vs. your vaio that is 4 years old (1998-2002 = ?). With one being twice the age of the other, what is the point of this comparison? I would also like to add that Jag runs fine on your cube because overall, there have not been a huge number of hardware advances on the power hardware side - Its a 450g4? Nothing revolutionary has happened between that and a dual ghz (remembering the next powermac down is a single 933). 4 years ago, macs still had a performance advantage over their wintel conterparts, which has been eroded and reversed recently by huge hardware advances on the Wintel side - 1998 viao's ran on pentium II's didn't they? ≤ 400mhz I seem to remember. Things have moved on just a little since then. I would find it a little embarassing to be in a position where I was arguing the case for macs lasting longer than wintels purely on the grouds that mac hardware advances more slowly over time, thus increasing longevity...

Of course, Light Speed is too slow.

Yes, we're gonna have to go right to ludicrous speed.

    Thank you Spaceballs.
