I have a 3rd gen 30GB ipod that is formatted and used on a mac, can it be switched to work on a windows machine?

Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanx, Randy

I don't think so or rather, not without a lot of work and maybe extra software. It is easy to switch a Windows iPod to a Mac iPod because OS X supports FAT 32 file systems. Windows won't support HSF unless there is extra software installed.

But I'm sure smarter people will have a better answer for you.

if you dont mind having to reformat the iPod all you should have to do is plug it into the windows computer with iTunes installed and it should "reset" (read: erase) the iPod so it can work with the Windows comp...

beware that when you format to windows, then go back to the mac, transfer speeds will be RELLY slow until you do a software restore to the ipod on the mac

But the Windows PC might not recognize the iPod.
