What kind of software do news sites use to maintain sites?

Specificly sites like macminute or macbytes



I was interested cause it seems like it would make my site easier to maintain.

    Placibo's suggestion is pretty good. It won't be as good as what they have, but it'll be decent.

    There is heaps of CMS software out there. Generally CMS software runs on the server, using a language like ASP or PHP to dynamically generate pages. If you are already commited to using a language you need to do a google search for that.



    If you havent decided then there heaps of choices. Have a look at farcry.daemon.com.au its a nice cms running on coldfusion, its cross platform as well, windows and linux ( probably works on OSX ) with several database options.



    If you are just going to be using static pages ( HTML files ) then you could run such a cms and save the pages from IE and upload them. Contribute is a good choice for this scenario. I see that Apple have included contribute with .Mac for updating your .Mac site, nice.

    I have no personal experience with such programs, it just sprang to mind.

    It all depends on what kind of site you're creating. If its fairly low-level then the blogging subcategory of CMS is probably your best bet.
