Are only Republicans evil?

Seems many love to entertain the idea that Democrats are somehow above getting involved in less than honest political objectives. I thought I would present something to suggest that that might not be so true.

Armed with a soft-spoken demeanor and down-home populist charm, few would suspect what Judicial Watch knows to be true about Senator Tom Daschle that he is among the most corrupt and ruthless politicians in Washington.

Anyone here think Democrats are above the questionable political objectives?

Are only Republicans questionable?

I was just asking the good people at AI to fill in with the answer to my question.

Of course to hem and haw is always a tactic to skirt away from looking like a die hard partisan.

I did not intend for that. I thought I opened the question in a professional manner.

I was only curious if people could answer the question with honesty and integrity. Nothing more nothing less.

I think there are a VERY limited number of decent politicians on both sides of the aisle. But in my honest opinion, neither party is the model of morality. They both take funds illegaly, they both become slaves to special interest groups, and the majority are primarily concerned with staying in office rather than working for the people. I think the difference in perception comes from the stereotypes of Republican leaders being ruthless, old, rich, white men and Democrats being immoral but too dopey to really harm anyone. I think another contributing factor is that Nixon was a Republican and it was his actions (coupled with Vietnam, which I know was started by Democrats) that really led to the deep cynicism we have today. If Nixon had been a Democrat, it's possible that we would have the impression that Democrats were ruthless and evil. I wish I could give you evidence to back up my claim, but this is based mainly on my perceptions and ideas and lack of sleep. Hope that's in the neighborhood of the kind of answer you were looking for!

Ah, yes, after that stunningly balanced and fair depiction from a marvelously well-balanced and objective web site, I can't imagine Daschle any other way but with horns coming out of his head and wielding a pitchfork.

Shetline are you familiar with Judicial Watch?

It is non partisan and has crept into the actions of many republicans as well.

Just one of many examples to prove my point:

    This one's pretty good:

    Judicial Watch

    Quote:

The Republicans and Democrats are much like the American and National Conferences of the NFL; they both are part of the same league, play the same games by the same rules, with really very little to distinguish themselves. They even both have free agents, specialists and ?stars? who play for whoever is willing to pay. It?s a sad day for the American public when an administration that was elected because of the abuses of the Clinton administration has operatives in its own ranks and the Republican Party that behave like the Clintons. This improper violation of privacy, which will be answered by legal actions, is obviously intended by the Bush administration and the Republican Party to coerce Judicial Watch to back off of its public interest advocacy concerning Vice President Cheney?s alleged stock fraud at Halliburton as well as its other cases.

This thread is only to show why we should always evaluate our perspective of politics.

Some wonder why so many don't care to vote.

Just an impression one can get from time to time. Not scientific. I will even go on the record and say I could be wrong. It does not bother me if I am wrong from time to time. Such is life at times.

I think FCiB created this thread because there's a "Democrats are greater than thou art and Republicans don't care about anybody but themselves" undertone to most political threads here. Gawd, it's like watching The West Wing whenever I come into AO.

The question in itself is stupid, redundant and an open mike for trolls. One needs not be a brain surgeon to figure out that evilness, crookery and all its subsidiaries (embezzlry, con-artistry, scammery, adultery, bad-parentry, etcetery) are not well contained by partisan lines.

So no, not only Republicans are evil, though we cannot deny they have a genetic predisposition guiding them into the twilight zone.

I thought you might have figured that one out for yourself.
