Question about powerbook gap.

Is it normal on the powerbooks to have a gap when closed between the monitor and keyboard? The latch works fine, I just wonder about the gap. My powerbook came on Tuesday and I have never had a notebook computer so I don't know what is normal and what isn't and I should be concerned about. Any advice and tips for a powerbook newbie? I got the 15" fastest model. I am excited but worried that I won't be able to recognize a problem. Any advice you can offer will help.
