Apparently you can't discuss rumors of future Apple products at MacNN anymore...or, it would appear, speculate much about them, either. MacNN is worried about their liability when Apple comes to "get them."



Is MacNN serious? Is this an inevitable wussification that comes to every forum, or will AppleInsider avoid this fate?



How many people here frequent both forums?

    I think the admin over there made a good point that the Macnn forums are connected with a commercial organization that could be sued, unlike macrumors.com and appleinsider.com which are seperate, albiet related sites that maintain independence.

    I use to post there many years back but found members a bit on the younger side.

    As for forbidding rumours, I suppose it's the forum administrator's perogative to do what he/she wants. They're closer to the situation and it's their neck on the line.

    That said, they must accept the consequences that follow i.e.reduced traffic = less advertising.



    Personally I enjoy speculating...and freedom of speech...as long as it's not slanderous.

    I really see this as a problem that has become all to prevalent in today's world. Everyone is afraid of stepping on someone's toes. Geez...why have a rumor site with forums if your not going to have rumors.

    Thats why I like AI...and in general dislike pretty much all the other forums out there. AI is a great place to call home.
