An advertising expert on CNN just called Apple's iPod and iTunes color background spots the best ads of the year. Congrats Apple!

You beat me by about 5 seconds. I was going to post this as well, but I hoped to find a link at AdWeek's site. Alas, all the good content is for subscribers.

I think Apple really hit a home run with the iPod ads. They are starkly different then any other ads on tv and just as important they are different then any other Apple ads. This allows the iPod brand not to be confused with the Mac brand. More than that the nature of the black silhouettes really reenforce the idea of the iPod as being that cool little white device that people are carrying around with them. People know the iPod and its distinctive white headphones and these ads took that to the next level.

I just wish Apple's ads for Macs were as good.

    Edit: Wish, wish, not with.

I agree with that, but only because it wasn't their fault that they were thrown into this stupid war.

I actually like the IBM commercial about LINUX.

With the kid sitting down being indoctrinated by people including Ali, Penny Marshal, etc. A voice over saying how "HE" is learning. At the end the VO goes "Does he have a name?" Then the other voice goes:"His name is LINUX"

I know I'm a geek, I just love that one.

Yeah, watching the Linux commercial right now. VERY Spielberg/Kubrick A.I. style...great commercial as well. Except the kid looks like a mini-Eminem
