From radioshack.com

"With more than 7,000 stores nationwide, it is estimated that 94 percent of all Americans live or work within five minutes of a RadioShack store or dealer."

Do you think RadioShack will ever sell iPods ?

Would you want them too?

Would it be worth it?

Maybe just the iPod mini ?

Have a deal that you could take your iPod / iPod mini to a local RadioShack for repair ??

Radio Shack sells HP and Compaq exclusively. Didn't I read something recently about Apple and HPaq making some kind of deal?

I think radio shack has kind of a reputation for being overpriced and often selling low-quality electronics. maybe i'm off base, but this is how i have always perceived the shack

I'd second that opinion. I never really think of Radio shack unless I need some sort of cable reallly quickly, since they're usually a 2 minute drive away.

radioshack sells component electronics, and then a bunch of crap.

they're a good choice if you're looking for hard to find fuses, wiring stuff, transistors, soldering kits etc.

however, if you buy premade stuff from them, well then it's probably crap. at least that's been my experience.

obviously i'm not the only one thinking radio shack crappy. as for them having obscure stuff, i wasn't even able to buy a package of jumpers (for a hard drive) in my local shack.

well, their other problem is that each is owned by an individual. so if you have a store that's owned by a geek, you'll find all sorts of weird odds and ends for electrical tinkering.

if it's owned by some MBA, good luck. it will only sell crap.

Radioshack stinks, poor quality stuff most of the time, but they have such a decisive control over that market it's hard to go anywhere else most of the time \

Yea, radioshack, what a rip. But hey, am I really gonna drive 60 minutes to get a LED when my local 'shack is 3 minutes away?

    Radio Shack Stinks?

Radio Shack WAS the parts place Now it the gadgets/parts place

Now they have tried to position them selves in the:

Cellular Market with Verizon, Spint PCS, Cingular

PDA Market selling: HP, Sony, Palm

Digtal Cameras with Sony, Casio, HP, Minolta, Fujifilm

Often some of the best toys

The overall point was: To have a hub of over 7,000 stores selling the iPod..... Having a store 5mins from most people, that they could go and buy an iPod from

    RadioShack is over priced ?

    - Not on everything

    - Is the iPod its self not over priced ?

RadioShack (RSH) Stock has been very strong over the past year -Strong steap-hill growth (21 up to 31)

RadioShack would be great for the iPod

    - 7,000 Stores

    - A repair shop

    - Perhaps its own store with-in-a store @ The Shack

    MATH

    If In one months time:

Each RadioShack Store could sell on average 1 iPods a day from (Oct 1st - Dec 31st)

    90 days x 1 sale a day x 7,000 stores = 630,000 units sold!!!

How many iPods did Apple sell between October and December 2003. 730,000!!

    MATH 730,000 + 630,000 over 1.3 MILLION

Some RadioShacks move out 20+ Cell Phones a day

I can easily see + 1 units being sold per day per store (during Oct-Dec)

NOW SUCH A BAD IDEA ?!?!?!??!

Didn't I already mention that HP was the exclusive computer company at Radio Shacks? The HPod will absolutely be in Radio Shacks. No need for Apple to reinvent the wheel when their new parter already has one.

Hmm, I think I may apply to be a 'shack employee sometime soon. I need a job, but no one around here respects my A+ Certification.
