Now that is sweet. Any way to "roll back" the time on a roll?
Sometimes my camera's time is off and I don't realize it until later, but the deltas are accurate. If you could just move everything back three days, or whatever, that would be really sweet.

I think I understand what you mean and I think the answer is "sort of". I switched the view to Roll and rolled the date back. The date changed for all the pictures, but the date on the Roll stayed the same.
To change the roll film date/time just double clic on it and then alter the data in the left side panel.
On a separate but related note, I notice that NASA are using bittorent to circulate their rover software due to high demand. Apparently their servers just couldn't serve it up fast enough. Good to see the old torrents used to good end. Anyone notice the big Mac presence at JPL?
I did not get in on the original discussion on the iPhoto4 release. I have a couple of questions about some underlying assumptions that everyone else on this thread seems to have:
- Do I understand correctly that iPhoto, versions 4 and above, will only be available as purchased software for the forseeable future?
- Will there be any way to purchase iPhoto4 without buying iLife '04? While the rest of the iLife suite is no doubt worthwhile, I just do not do any of the rest of that stuff (although I will probably take advantage of iTunes if the iTMS ever becomes available in Canada).
- Do I understand correctly that iPhoto, versions 4 and above, will only be available as purchased software for the forseeable future?
No one can say with certainty about this until iLife 04 is actually released on the 16th. It does, however, currently appear to be only available in the package.
I think it's totally fair. Updates and whatnot will be free, of course. And maybe registered owners of iLife 04 get a nice upgrade price to iLife 05?
$49 is a steal, considering all that you get!
I defy anyone to find - on the PC OR Mac - a digital media suite of this quality and level of integration for less.
I don't think you can.
To be honest, I think I'd pay the same again for iLife '05, never mind getting a discounted price if you have '04 . I've been reading around a bit, and the improvements made to all the apps are, IMHO, well worth the money.
You got the original version bundled with your Mac.
Look at it this way - they *could* offer a 'first-time buyer' price of $99 just to make everyone at the $49 level feel better.
Of course, since it only works on Macs, and since every Mac comes with it bundled, then *EVERY* purchaser is an upgrader, and no one would have to buy it at the $99 level... but what the heck, they could just put it on the pricelist and then everyone can feel all warm and fuzzy about getting half off.

I have no problem with Apple charging for iLife, but given that I now just currently use the free iPhoto, it seems strange to pay for what would be, for me, just an update of iPhoto together with a whole bunch of other stuff I don't use. If they were to sell the iPhoto4 update separately, then I would probably buy it, although I doubt that it is worthwhile for Apple to sell it in this manner.
Perhaps an upgrade to iPhoto is worth $49 U.S. on its own, but it is an open question for me....
Well, you can look at it like this: Adobe Photoshop Album is pretty much like iPhoto, and it costs $49.99.
Yeah, it's Windows only (because we don't need it), but just saying that a program that closely matches iPhoto, feature-wise, seems to cost $50 on its own.
So look at it, as you say, of buying iPhoto for $49, and getting 4 REALLY kick-ass bonus apps for free.
You may end up with a camcorder at some point, and you'll be happy you have iMovie and iDVD. And you might find yourself having fun in GarageBand.
That's how I'd look at it. I currently don't use iDVD or iMovie, but it's REALLY nice knowing they're there!
One thing that hasn't been mentioned anywhere yet as far as I can tell is the fact that iPhoto and iMovie are both now REAL metal apps. They do not use custom metal themes.
Thanks god! So now those who use skins, can actually see the skins in iPhoto and iMovie and also this will hopefully get rid of the previous widget issues that were present in iPhoto.

That's the first thing I checked when I saw iPhoto 4 and iMovie 4 yesterday...this is great...even for people that don't use skins. This might also one of the reasons why resizing is a bit faster now under these apps.

not to mention that $99 is for EVERY COMPUTER
soooo.. why not just get the family pack? (is it $79 or $99?)
the family pack is the "full version" and the regular $49 is the upgrade
so everyone is really getting a $20 discount! (edu people get $50 off)

Yeah...I forgot to mention the actual useful reason for this.
I actually put in an order for it. Damn you Jobs, everyday I find less and less to disagree with in the mac universe, soon I'll have to find a linux board to gripe on.
Anyway, after a year of mac use, I've yet to really crack the mac file sharing nut.
As possibly the most prolific poster here (in terms of total word count) and not too far back in terms of total posts, my private message mailbox is now open and expecting submissions.
Someone, anyone, help me jump the last hurdle of mac ownership...

I don't think so. When you click the arrow it just breaks your library down by year.
well that is one step forward I guess.
(wonders what happens if you rename the year folders in the finder?)
