I'm looking for fun games that I probably wouldn't know about, that are just somewhat simple and fun to play. Games that are just fun to play when bored like snood.
I would download an updated version of the 8-bit classic Head Over Heels or visitOrisinalfor a selection of deeply cutesy, but entertaining Game & Watch style attempts.

Right, orisinal is great, simple, harmless fun, and some good music too!
This is fun for a little while, 320.5 is my high score, as it is with a everyone else who I've talked to that has played it, that might be the highest, I dunno though.
Classic role playing games and web forums for feedback since 1994. Now Mac/PC/Linux.
The Exile series was hours and hours of fun back in the day with huge demos to explore.
Nethergate is Celts vs Romans, so if you're in a Blue paint mood or hail from Brittania...
Of the newer 3D games, Homeland (PC only) was the first I'd seen with a dog as playable character.
Many of the games use a similar engine and familiar controls and perspective, so learning curve is small, but the breadth of vision, graphic detail and multiple plots make many of these games award winners.
looks like they've posted some new ones since my last visit.
there goes my productivity this evening.\
and I echo the endorsement of anything by Ambrosia
Maelstrom rules... Asteroids clone with Cartoon channel audio clips... you eediot!
EV Nova and its offshoots are awesome. Space pirates and multiple plotlines.
Uplink was novel, but seemed sluggish on my old iBook... maybe Panther will have helped.

Well although longer then I thought, I knew it couldn't be long until I heard that a$$holeish comment
The Macintosh Garden - hundreds of "abandonware" games that run in Classic
Barrack was one of my favorites.
Also, nothing beats a good game of tetris
