AI post a news clip about how the new iPod 1984 ad displays tomorrows date on the large viewscreen, and then I go and look, and tomorrows date is on the original 1984 ad!? WTF?

Now the news clip has been removed from AI, but still the question remains...

Why is the date January 26th '04 on the original 1984 ad?

It's not. If you look closely, it says '84, not '04.

This has been pretty much hashed out elsewhere on the net.

But the date looks like the 26th of Jan, is it not ment to be the 24th?

It's been *twenty years*, but the basic speculation is that this was just a screwup in communication during the ad production process.

But yes, it's an eight. Compare it to the definite zero in the next line below it for the time.

My God. Really. Does anyone seriously think this could be some sort of hidden clue about new products?

When they release whatever is coming next there will be no doubt at all, cos it will be on their site with all the usual adspeak.

Hold on. There's a cloud outside looks vaguely like a....tablet!!!

Teh Apple Tablet si teh soon...

Was the original Mac announced on the 24th and then for sale on the 26th or 28th?

    What it says:

    Date 1.26.84

    Time 09:14

    Primary Monitor

No hidden 2004 statement, Jan 26 1984, screwup in ad production.

    That's all.
