I recently received some chinese documents in Word and Excel but when i open them I can't say anyting except some line and weird symbols.

I enabled the chinese system input, but still no go.

How can I see these documents?

Haven't used Office myself for a long time now, but I suppose you could try selecting everything and changing the font to a Chinese one.

I tried that, it ain't working too well.

I know with Windows you can download a language pack, but it isn't available for Mac, however, there must be a way to do it.

I'll wait for another answer, thanks anyway.

Office v.X has no unicode support. Better luck next version.

Oh yeah OSX does have the option to multiple language and asian fonts. they all should be installed by default unless when you do the custom install with those options off

In Word before you type in Chinese you will have to select the chinese font set first.

As for reading, you will have to try different chinese fonts to read the text. I did that and it works sometimes. If you are on Panther....the best option is to use TextEdit to open that document. No need to fool around to try different fonts.
