I don't expect apple to ever release an art program, drawing, modeling, illustration and such, but looking at their current line-up they do have Movies and Music covered, so let's just play pretend...if apple made a visual arts program it would...

    640x480 ROCKS!

That's MacPaint, huh? Wow...never saw/used it (before my time).

Someone ought to do RetroX software: new stuff, fully OS X compatible, but simple and funny like the old stuff. MacPaintX.

But I suppose that's kind of a silly, limited appeal idea, huh?

    Zapata!

Ah, I can smell the computer store where I was first introduced to Macintosh... *sniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiff* *cough* *wheeze* geekfunk! *cough* *hack*

Seriously, thanks for posting that Brad, that was a blast from the past. I used to have that ad on my wall. (Yeah, I'm a geek. I also had one of the original PowerBook posters up. Still have that one, just not hanging in my office. )

For real! I know a lot of devs make "modern adaptations" of old software, but they usually stink

First thing I noticed that I was critical of with OS X was the missing art package.

My old Amiga came with Deluxe Paint III, I'd be happy with "even" that.

if you're looking for a mac os x compatible verson of macpaint, look no further than the latest filemaker pro. those drawing tools haven't been updated since the late 80's. \

Well then, the question still stands.

what (updated) features would you like to see in a new mac art program?
