Well let me qualify it further. I feel that increased Polygon rendering performance is no longer important, that is my opinion. I feel that it is similar to the MHz myth at this point. Especially is this true for newer cinematic quality games. The number 1 constraint to cinematic quality is Vector and Pixel Shaders. nVidia was caught napping as this transition became more important. ATI leapfrogged nVidia on this account and nVidia promises to catch up with the NV40 technology.

So right now, FPS when it relates to Polygons is over-rated. I would rather see 40FPS (synched with a typical LCD) and awesome shaders. Even at lower resolutions, this would make for more of a cinematic experience. That is one reason why I would not buy a nVidia card today, I think the future is in the shader performance.

stingerman, what's your point? Regardless of WHERE you increase the visual quality, faster graphics cards still count. You could have just posted "yes myahmac and Barto and Programmer, you were right, my bad"

But faster doesn't mean greater FPS if the card croaks on shaders. My observation was regarding what I really am looking for in a performance card. Crazy FPS scores are not it. Take this into consideration: Wintel DirectX cards achieve higher FPS due not to the superiority of Wintel card or even DirectX software; but due to comprises in the GPU's Math. That is one reason why a directX primitive may beat a similar OpenGL OS X primitive. Apple places greater importance on the precision and accuracy of the graphics system and refuses to comprise those in order to achieve the ludicrous FPS numbers the Wintel world always quotes.

For me FPS as it relates to Shader quality is more important. And for the ability to run more shaders and more complex shader code on the GPU, I would gladly take a card that accurately displayed FPS synched to my refresh rate and dedicated more of its processing power on shaders.

Kickaha and Amorph couldn't moderate themselves out of a paper bag. Abdicate responsibility and succumb to idiocy. Two years of letting a member make personal attacks against others, then stepping aside when someone won't put up with it. Not only that but go ahead and shut down my posting priviledges but not the one making the attacks. Not even the common decency to abide by their warning (afer three days of absorbing personal attacks with no mods in sight), just shut my posting down and then say it might happen later if a certian line is crossed. Bullshit flag is flying, I won't abide by lying and coddling of liars who go off-site, create accounts differing in a single letter from my handle with the express purpose to decieve and then claim here that I did it. Everyone be warned, kim kap sol is a lying, deceitful poster.

Now I guess they should have banned me rather than just shut off posting priviledges, because kickaha and Amorph definitely aren't going to like being called to task when they thought they had it all ignored *cough* *cough* I mean under control. Just a couple o' tools.

Don't worry, as soon as my work resetting my posts is done I'll disappear forever.

Maybe somebody will think of something at some point... And if they do, I'll be sure to let ya know. Oh yea and have a great MacWorld!"
