G5's not selling

So the local "chain" computer store (PC Outlet) has started carrying macs...

I asked them about this and they said it wasn't going to last... they just aren't selling any (they have a G5 and Cinema 20 on display).

Small wonder... the G5 1.6 is priced at $2999 (USD) and the 20" Cinema at $1999. Did they fail to notice that NOONE sells macs at a markup over Apples SRP ???

Anyway ... no real point to make ... just venting.

I thought this was serious, like G5's were really not selling, but $3000 for a 1.6 and $2000 for a 20" display, what kind of idiot would buy it at the price...

This idiots hear that Macs are more pricey so they figure we are all dumb and will pay anything for the computer. So they do something dumb like that and wonder why they can't sell any. One issue is that there are not big margins on the hardware. That is the beauty behind Apple opening their own stores. Now they don't have to share any margin and we get a great buying experience. Oh and free internet access in the mall.

Good god. That's a hell of a markup. Do they not check other prices that mac dealers vend at?

KingofSomewhereHot: Hey, just wait until they don't sell any, and pick up the shelf model in the dumpster out back. That will be the BEST deal you can get from those anal PC guys.
