The new case just needs to break out of it's shell. The drive bay faceplate is the only part of the G5 case visible just now. When the G5 is released on the World it will burst from the current offering like a butterfly from it's chrysalis. Think Xserve tower.

    I'm not sure I believe you but IF I were then tell me this last round of G4's doesn't smell just like the B&W G3.

    Beige G3's - Nov 97 --> Jan 99 (15 months)

    B&W G3's - Jan 99 --> Aug 99 (7 months)

    Silver G4 - Aug 99 --> Aug 02 (3 years)

    AirCool G4 - Aug 02 --> Jan 03 (5 months)

    NewAirCool w/IBM CPU - Jan 03 Intro

    Sure the time we have had the G4 is much longer than the G3 but the concept is the same.

    Yea I keep telling myself this all fits just because I really want it to but let me dream will ya.

    Surely it's "powerful ally"? (only if they can be turned, of course...)

    A change of that kind may be quite painful unless itis timed with a change to 64bit CPU's at around the same time as windows transitions to 64 bitness.

    Unless AMD could work in some capacity other than CPU design.

    Agreed, the form will follow the Xserve, all metal brushed side panels, mirror finish front.
