eMac with OS 9.2.2 and OS X, Power Mac 8500 with OS 9.0.4 (still my preferred device, but I am just a home user).
AND, OT, an Atari TT 030 with high-resolution 19 inch B/W screen.
IMHO, newer systems are adding unnecessary complications. Bought the eMac only because my printer failed and all new printers needed USB. Added a USB card to my 8500 but for incomprehensible reason, could not get it to work. (See comment above re. complications)
My wife and kids use most of these. I do get my hands on the portables once in awhile :-)
Having a hard time justifying a new machine. The dual 1gig is pretty nice for what I do. if VPC and Dreamweaver runs any faster on the new G5s when they get here then I might make the jump. I hate how slow DW is. Everytime that I go to an Apple Store they never have it on any of the machines.
Mike: what the frick to you do with all those machines? Do you have a harem of hot web designing chicks too that your not telling us about?
I have owned two Macs, both portables, and both are phenomenal machines.
I have a nice shiny iBook 800 Mhz G3 that has served me well enough that screen, motherboard and power adapter failures have each failed to dim my affection for it in the last year since I bought it. Spanning hack makes it a cheap workhorse with the extra external screen real estate. Really cute and quite fast for 2D progs and for day-to-day use. Final Cut Express is testing it's limits however.
Six years earlier I purchased a Powerbook 1400cs for college and am posting from that machine now - after G3 and harddrive upgrades it is still a terrific machine. If it held more than 64 MB RAM, I wouldn't own the iBook yet. This is the machine that made me a Mac fanatic. Best keyboard in history IMHO.
My next Mac will be a cheap desktop with powerful processing for video work. I am ready to invest in a used G4 (dual preferably) with a Superdrive as soon as the Rev B G5's kick off the next round of upgrades. I hate the way the MDDs look though, so I will hunt around for a high-end Quicksilver for under a grand (barring the sudden appearence of a headless, inexpensive G5.) Wish me luck
