Yeah, if there is an iPhone, it will be a cross between a cell phone and an iPod and a new fangled mobile OS from Apple....nothing more.... it will be an Apple branded, SonyErricson made, cell phone that will sync with your Mac and maybe when you pass another mac user it will beep and you can hold up the peace sign in your hand....like in the commercial <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />

You know, I have been talking with my friends, we are all cell phone users, and I have pretty much decided that I am not going to upgrade to another phone until something along these lines (the pictured Global from Earth:Final Conflict) is available.

The cool thing is, with OLEDs starting to make waves, this kind of thing could actually be closer that you think. Of course there arent any processors that would give it the power it had in the show (yet) but still, could you imagine a PDA/VideoPhone/Cell Phone/subnotebook that rolls up into the size of a current cell phone?

Seeing this old Newton design study, I sometimes wish Sculley never left and finished his visions. Knowledge Navigator, yeah.

    yep! that stuff had potential.

to bad apple was is a big mess back then and had to dump that kind of stuff.

ther was a knowledge navigator spot that showed a guy talking to his tablet - and the tablet talking back.

if apple only had more money to put into r&d back then - we would have the stuff we are speculating about (pda-phone-thingy) since 10 years.

The entire "Knowledge Navigator" thing was a huge financial disaster for Apple. The famous "Knowledge Navigator" video (the one withe the bloke on a bench talking to a PDA) was just an idea for the future. Sculley saw it as a achievable goal! He pored 1000's of dollars into the R&D, and eventually emerged with the Newton. Which was a technical marvel at the time (the first real PDA before anyone knew what to do with one), but it wasn't a patch what the "Knowledge Navigator" promised.
