Friends With Benefits

This link appeared on my apple/netscape homepage today. Recently, i have entered into a friendship with benefits. Both of us are coming off of relatively long term relationships. Neither of us want a new relationship at this point.

This could get interesting and, needless to say i'm looking forward to this weekend when my roommates go home for the weekend.

What does everyone think of these new types of relationships?

Cultural phenomenon? Or just a tactic used by people who are incapable of maintaining a real relationship?

I think my situation will be ok as long as emotions don't get involved. I'm more concerned with her getting attached. But only time will tell.

Cheers.

This isn't new. It's been around as long as time. In recent years, the specific case you're in has been popularized as "the rebound."

friends with benefits is emotionally exhausting if one member places more significance on the events than the other... be careful...

Friends with Benefits are great for keeping in game shape so when you do fall in love with a girl she won't think your a slouch in the sack.

Good in theory, bad in practice.

Normally, and I say normally one, or both people can't handle it and begin to form emotions for the other. It works, if it's just you two, but when someone starts hanging out with another or doing stuff with another, it normally doesn't turn out well.

Good call. IT WON'T WORK!!! I've seen it go down the tubes way too many times to count. Someone always takes it too far or gets too emotionally involved or something like that. As fun as it can be, it's bad news. I tried to do it this past weekend, and the girl ended up having a boyfriend...we just kissed, nothing major. (no skin off my back, I didn't know she had a boyfriend at the time so I'm innocent). Do yourself a favor, get out now and make better friends with your right hand.

Hope that wasn't too graphic for anyone.

Yeah, and not this complicated. It usually ended one or the other found someone else.

Just a new tag for an old ritual...

Sounds like a good topic for an AI poll.

Who volunteers to start that one? Haha. It'll be locked real quick.

Says you. I just don't think the mods would be too happy with a poll entitled: "What do you prefer? Right or left.

Take it as you will, I think with the crowd on AI being who we are, the mods would figure it out pretty soon. As funny as it would be, it has no real value, so I'm not gonna do it. But if you want to, I'll vote.

The mods here don't lock things that are politically incorrect. If they did, I would leave. There are a few members that live and die by PC. . . but they aint mods.

But what about the ambidextrous ? Discrimination, I tells you.

Edit: originally read this thread title as meaning "Friends on benefit". The confusion dispersed quickly.

I'm not talking political correctness, it's just a question of appropriateness. I'm a PC hater myself (in more ways than one ). I hate overly PC people, it would just be a dumb thread is all, pointless, stupid, and ill thought out threads get locked. And this would be an example of a pointless, stupid, ill thought out and inappropriate thread.

But what the heck? Never hurt to get a thread locked! I just hope I can duck before the admin stick gets to my head.

    Edit:

After carefully examining the posting guidelines I have determined that it would be really stupid to start the above stated thread/poll.

That would be me. I've found more 'efficient' ways of getting off than dousing myself in facial cream or body lotion.

The first would be a 'girl'.

    The second I cannot divulge.

On topic anyways, the common term used in *my* circle of friends is 'fvck buddy'. I assume that's what's going on between you two...that is, good friends simply wanting to get their respective rocks off with no emotional attachment whatsoever.

That said, it rarely works out that way. You'll run into your 'fvck buddy' at a bar sooner rather than later trying to hook up with some guy...and you will feel betrayed, lied to and cheated upon...even though she did no such thing.

If you can handle that eventuality...fvck on my friend!

(You will be the hurt one, by the way. Never underestimate a woman's ability to forget you.)
