I can't find this, so I can't check the date. Sure it isn't the Pippin?

For those who can't find it... The graphic in question is just a mono-colored Apple Logo. Interesting since when the Pipin was around they used the multi-colored version and in these TM's they do comment about mono vs. multi colors.

    This latest TM:

"Description of Mark\tThe mark consists of the design of an apple with a bite removed."

    An Older TM:

"Description of Mark\tTHE MARK CONSISTS OF THE DESIGN OF AN APPLE WITH A BITE REMOVED. THE DRAWING IS LINED FOR THE COLORS GREEN, YELLOW, CORAL, RED, VIOLET AND BLUE."

Just a guess but maybe the lawyer messed up and used the wrong code (IC 028. US 022 023 038 050.) that 028 or maybe those other numbers are what bring up that text you see. (I think)

    Here is another example:

"IC 009. US 026 038. G & S: Computers, Computer Software and Computer Peripherals-Namely, Floppy Disk Drives, Printers, Electronic Graphics Tablets, and Video Monitors. FIRST USE: 19770100. FIRST USE IN COMMERCE: 19770100"

Well anyway it's and interesting find but I'm not too sure what to make of it... Heck, we still have Gigawire on the table from over a year ago (or pretty close).

"Telecommunication services, namely, local and long distance transmission of voice, data and graphics by means of computer, telephone, telegraphic, cable and satellite transmission; telecommunication services, namely, telecommunications gateway services, ISDN services; cellular telephone communication services; electronic transmission of data and documents via computer terminals, communication by telephone, facsimile transmission; electronic mail services; electronic transmission of messages, data and images; electronic communication between computer peripherals and devices; providing electronic information in the field of telecommunications via the Internet"

And we still don't know what thats all about.

What's interesting is that the trademark registration is for the Apple logo itself. It seems to imply that Apple is going to be getting into the electronic games market - I don't know what else to make of it.

Here's a link to the "details" page for it:

    Good find! Most intriguing... <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

As for getting into the games industry - it would be wise of Apple to just hire a bunch of guys to take care of the game ports of other titles. Apple can publish them themselves (like microsoft does) and have a bit of a quality control over which titles appear and which not. And many companies would reather have someone who "knows sh*t" port their title than trying themselves at a new platform.

I remember the HALO demo on stage at Macworld, with Bungie telling the audience that it would be there for the Mac from the start. It was wonderfull to see this, though I havent played a game on my computer in years, I wanted that game. Apple needs to get this type of development, preferably as a Mac only or first game. There are lots of good game developers out there, and Apple should be working with them, or buying one of them to really showcase their hardware. Like it or now, games DO SELL HARDWARE, that is how the console people make money, not on the consoles themselves.

The mention of all those product categories is a standard procedure. The reason is to ensure than someone doesn't use the same or a similar name for a product in an adjoining category.

I wonder why they didn't include washing machines... :-)

AFX-Focus) 2002-09-10 20:10 GMT: Philips to use Apple's Jaguar operating system in home entertainment devices

PARIS (AFX) - Apple Computer Inc chief executive Steve Jobs said the company has agreed a deal with Royal Philips Electronics NV under which Philips can use Apple's software in its next generation of home entertainment systems.

Jobs said the system will allow users access to technology not available to users of Microsoft's Windows system.

"Apple and Philips believe that consumers want their electronic goods to be connected across their homes," said Gerard Kleisterlee, Philips chairman, in a video link to a convention of Apple users in Paris.

    No financial details were disclosed.
