One thing doesn't make sense in this photo. The iPod's transparent top layer is about an eighth of an inch thick. The LCD is down under this layer, untouchable. In this "PowerPod" there is nothing that indicates there is access to the LCD for writing on or tapping. The "touch-screen" aspect of the device is not shown well.

    Must be a F A K E .

The dimensions don't match the screen of the iPod. The picture looks the same size a a whole iPod though

Second, I have never seen an iPod with a dark screen...Just an observation.

My first impression was that it was the 15" or 17" iMac monitor detached from its neck. Probably not, though.

first, people rag on spymac and especially thinksecret way too much around here. spymac has been right occassionally, but got seeded major-league bogus info on the iWalk.

just like a certain well-loved appleinsider got seeded some bad apple-disney buyout info back in, what '98? it happens...

anyway, ipod might not have a black screen, but a COLOR screen would, right?

though heck if i can see how it could detect any motion through an entire thick slab of lucite on top. 'course, that's why i am not an engineer. image looks crappy enought to be legit to me (remember, it's the really GOOD images and movies that tend to be fake).

plus, as a final caveat to cover my own butt, any industrial design crew makes a ton of semi-functional (and, at tims, fully-functional) prototypes, so even if this is legit, it may never see the light of day (i am reminded of the powerbook-with-removable-screen prototype that was made, would even boot, but never got the go-ahead for mass production).

In the right lighting conditions, you can make any lcd display look black (polarising filters, guys), but surely if you were faking up an Apple product you'd put something legible on the screen that made it look like an Apple product? <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />

I have to say though, Defiant, all that "I just got this anonynous email from some dude with this picture stuff" does rather tend to reek of the stuff that comes out of the back end of male cows...

See cow usually means female when discussing cattle. Plus if he/she said the back end of a cow it could be Cr@p or a calf. You see????

Uh, cow always means female when discussing cattle, just as steer always means male when discussing cattle. It's 'cattle' which is gender ambiguous...
