Confirmed: Stupid people use Confirmed when they shouldn't

Posted:
in Future Apple Hardware edited January 2014
This just in, it is confirmed that people use the word "Confirmed" when they should actually use the term "I pulled this out my ass". Scientists are baffled at the mistake, stating "Man, that's no where even close to confirmed, what kind of crack are they smoking?"

These reports seem to be centered around rumor mill cites, where the mistake is made multiple times in a single day.

"It's weird" one scientist is quoted saying "it seems to infect everyone, not just one person, it's almost like a virus"

Scientists say that if you are about to put "Confirmed" in a title, you should ask yourself if this looks like something an individual going by the initials JYD would post. If so, delete the entire post and don't waste anyone's time.

thank you and good night.

And this thread isn't a waste of our time?

"CONFIRMED" has a long history here at AI.

    Exactly.

If it bothers you that much, there are plenty of other boards...

It's just not AI without the odd "confirmed" thread.

Was it ever really alive? It was DOA the moment it was posted, but in the grand tradition of AI we replied anyway.

Rumormill watchers often jump to conclusions. And they will always want to advertise their find with the boldest wording possible.

FH has always been a little nutty - much more so in the run-up to a big show. My advice: accept it for what it is, have a laugh - and stop dumping on everyone else.

I've always found it odd that people in FH would chide others for being overzealous. It's as though their force of anger didn't reveal how they themselves take these things much too seriously...

    Cheers,

    Mark.

CONFIRMED have to do something with advertising, if you say confirmed, even if most of AI's users know that's pure b"""lsh"t, they will read it, perhaps only for the pleasure to confirm that this thread is pure b""sh"t
