Mac OS X Developer Preview 4

I was at an apple user group meeting today and these apple employees gave out some old stuff.

I picked up a developer preview 4 of os x cause I remember i was really excited about os x for a long time prior it's release and never knew anything about it. therefore, I wanted to check it out, and see what os x was like a whole year before it was released. The cd is dated May 2000.

Unfortunately my computer is not os 9 bootable and I cannot install it.

So is there anyone here that used the developer preview back then? Could you tell me a bit about what it was like?

Thanks,

STeve.

I got the DP4 on the mail..

At that time, I installed it on my trusty old iMac Bondi.

so the CRT iMac would work.

well.. if you have the time and the right Macs.. why not?

    DP4 vs. 10.3.3

What a major improvement, right? [compared to WinME and XP SP1]

Ahhhhh, DP4, I remember it well.

I'll have to dig up my Hera build CDs for kicks and giggles one day. I might even still have the Atlas ones around here.

(For those of you who are lost, Hera and Atlas predated DP1 by over a year.)

I got to play with most of the developer released builds of MacOS X from before MacOS X Server 1.0 came out... And I have absolutely no nostalgia or desire to go back and run any of those versions.

Having a DP4 disk is much nicer on the shelf than on the HD....
