CodeWarrior found this just so I don't take credit for it-----

<a href="http://www.hamrick.com/vsm.html"; target="_blank">http://www.hamrick.com/vsm.html</a>;

"VueScan is an inexpensive program that works with most scanners to produce high-quality scans that have excellent color fidelity. It takes advantage of the advanced hardware capabilities of most scanners on the market today, and helps you do batch scanning while at the same time producing color-balanced and cropped images. Please feel free to download and test VueScan. The Windows version is about 900 KBytes and should only take about five minutes to download. You can download VueScan by clicking on:

VueScan 7.3.5 for Windows

VueScan 7.3.5 for Linux

VueScan 7.3.5 for Mac OS 8/9/X

Please note that the shareware version of VueScan is disabled on PowerPC G5 processors.

To install the Windows version of VueScan, double-click the file you've downloaded. To install the Linux version, type "tar -xvf vuesca73.tgz --gunzip". To install the Mac OS version, unstuff the install file into a folder on the desktop.

If you're using Windows 2000 or Windows XP and a SCSI scanner and if VueScan doesn't find your SCSI scanner, you may need to download and install ASPI (you don't need this for USB scanners):

*\tASPI for Adaptec SCSI Adapters

*\tASPI for Other SCSI Adapters

The VueScan Release Notes contain the VueScan User's Guide, information about getting technical support, a list of the changes from previous versions, a list of supported scanners, Mac OS release notes, Windows release notes, and Linux release notes."

An actual screen cap is better

I think it's not a typo. If he is saying the shareware Vue Scan is disable with G4....why I am able to use it with my tower?

Wow, interesting  . Would this company be privy to G5 testing/info though? Sounds promising though. C'mon G5!

Hehehe. If true, someone's about to be busted.

Maybe it's April Fools in January.

Why doesn't somebody send an e-mail and ask if it was a typo?

:: Steve finds out... instructs the Mac OS team to block any functioning VueScan drivers from the system and make their scanners incompatible with both OS 9 and X::

Ok everyone, relax, sit back, and think for a minute: Just how likely is it that some random shareware author gets handed out pre-production G5 machines?

    Bye,

Maybe someone who DOEA have access to a G5 used to use his software, emailed him that it doesn't work with the G5 and he disabled use on a G5 until he fixes the problem. he doesn't have access to a G5 but one of his users must.

"Hi there. I just want to inform you that your program doesn´t work on this top secret computer I have here on my desk. No, its still a secret so I can´t let you test your program on it. If you just write on your web site that it doesn´t work on it so other testers won´t try like me. Noone know what a G5 is anyway so noone will notice. Thanks and have a nice day"

I can see it now, porn websites from around the world will be including text like that on their sites... "This site will not work with the PowerPC G5"... The extra traffic will be HUGE!

Hey it **might** be for real.. but I wouldn't bet the mortgage/rent money on it. Sorry but this seems just a bit too strange...

How could this be a typo. I mean vuescan works with both G3 and G4 processors. There is no problem there. I could see someone testing this with this program and having problems. I bet there are G5's coming in January!
