How could this be a typo. I mean vuescan works with both G3 and G4 processors. There is no problem there. I could see someone testing this with this program and having problems. I bet there are G5's coming in January!

This guy just CAN'T have a G5 coz he complained about lack of Apple support in August !!!

I've had some difficulties with Apple's Developer Relations Group which caused me to discontinue the Mac OS version of VueScan. To make a long story short, hundreds of e-mails from Apple users persuaded me not to discontinue the Mac OS version of VueScan. I've concluded that it's less work to argue with Apple than to answer hundreds of e-mails requesting that I continue supporting Mac OS ;-)
If you're a Mac OS user, please stop e-mailing me about this. You win, I give in. I'll continue releasing VueScan for Mac OS 8/9/X and in return, please stop clogging my e-mail.
Hamrick Software is no longer supporting the Mac operating system for its VueScan product. And based on the angry "invectives" he's receiving from Mac users, Ed Hamrick of Hamrick Software may not be inclined to change his mind anytime soon.
VueScan is an application designed to work with most scanners to produce high-quality scans that have excellent color fidelity. It takes advantage of the advanced hardware capabilities of most scanners on the market today, and helps you do batch scanning while at the same time producing color-balanced and cropped images, according to Hamrick.
According to an online message from Hamrick, he dropped Mac OS support after receiving an e-mail from a manager in Apple's Developer Relations Group "giving me a hard time about supposedly violating some sort of Non-Disclosure Agreement (which was just nonsense)."
"I'm quite busy trying to add support for the Canon FS-4000, and I don't have time to waste arguing with Apple," he said. "I've dropped Mac OS support as a result."
He's getting lots of response from Mac users. Unfortunately, he said that much of it is rude. Let me add an opinion here: if you'd like to see Hamrick reconsider Mac OS support for VueScan, drop a friendly note to him. You can find contact info for support, technical problems and tips at the Hamrick Software Welcome page. (Thanks to MacCentral reader Bill Norton for the heads-up on this item.)
It seems he lives in LONDON... does Apple restrict it's hardware testing progs to the US or are there usually also testers in other countries?
VueScan scanning software
For months, I've had to return to the Mac OS 9 environment to scan photos or other artwork with my Microtek ScanMaker 5700. This is one of the significant factors that keeps me from using Mac OS X full time. I've been watching with interest the development of Ed Hamrick's remarkable little program, VueScan, which has been available in Mac OS X form for some time. (Ed, by the way, is a former Phoenix resident who now resides in London).
VueScan, available as a demoware application, supports a wide variety of film and flatbed scanners from the likes of Agfa, Epson, Microtek, Nikon, Umax and so on and so forth. If you've been waiting for Mac OS X scanning software, pop on over to Ed's Web site and download the latest version. The demo puts a watermark on your scans; you have to pay the $40 licensing fee to get the full functionality, but at least you'll have a chance to see how it works with your scanner, and you no longer have to fret as to when the manufacturer will get its own act together and deliver a Mac OS X update. As for me, I'm happy as a clam with this program. Recent versions have added support for my scanner, and although the scanning process is a bit slower than with Microtek's own software, VueScan's auto exposure feature is so good you seldom have to go to an image editing program, such as Adobe Photoshop, to fix things up.
Oh, and if you must flirt with other computing platforms, you'll be pleased to discover that VueScan is also available in Linux and Windows versions.
Alright, listen up guys. I emailed him....but I asked him specifically what the issues were as to disabling on the G5 instead of asking him if he has one or knows of one coming out. I said it seems to run fine on a G3 and G4 and basically played dumb.
Right, as if MacCentral articles weren't already a combination of press releases and editorials...
Anyway, the motives behind this (just reconsidered) move are suspect at best. A developer doesn't just drop support for a platform because the OS maker has claimed violation of an NDA. Apple is not the customer - the people who have paid for VueScan are. Not only did Ed Hamrick decide to screw over his customers based on an allegedly baseless letter from Apple, he also decided to insult them by implying that because he received a few disgusting letters, all Mac users (including his customers) must be rude.
Based on this behavior, I would hesitate to buy anything from Mr. Hamrick.
He answered in 30 seconds? He is just sitting there and waiting for us all to eat the bait
NO BULLSHIT!!!!!! He just emailed me too.....I am 100% not ****ing with you.....you have never know me to do that. He might be waiting for us.....but if not, GOD DAMN!!!
Well the guy just replyed to me again and quoted my earlier post. Either he is screwing with us to get traffic or for a laugh or actually knows what's up.......but he is here.

So it's not just a typo. Could be hoax, but not a typo.
Perhaps he was embraced by Apple after he pledged to continue Mac support...

There's nothing incorrect on my web site. The shareware
version of VueScan 7.3.5 will not run on PowerPC G5
systems (yes, it says G5, not G4).
I'm not able to explain this any further at this time.

Ed Hamrick
Also, the AI name "CodeWarrior" had one post listed when he sent the info in the "G5--The Truth" thread..
Is it Ed?
