AppleInsider Best-Run Messageboard

Posted:
in Feedback edited January 2014
Despite any concerns that I've voiced about AI over the years I'd like to say that it remains the best-run messageboard of any that I've frequented. The discipline, adherence to rules and coordination between admins/mods is far and away the best I've encountered.

I frequently find myself writing things like "on another board I've been on since '99 this thread would have been closed and so-and-so would have been banned" and an extremely personal series of attacks on one of those other boards made me realize that I might ought to speak up.

Culling cross-posts, redirecting mis-posts and locking out-of-control posts are famous here and I expect that the din of the noobs whinging sometimes makes you guys wonder if it's worth the effort.

It is.

If there were something like the "Drewprops Award for Excellence in the Administration of an Internet Forum" you guys would be the winners for five years running...except of course for The Great Blackout.

Congratulations and Thanks!

**DMBand escorts Quagmire to the door**

    **Kicks in butt**

I agree totally with drewprops. AI is the best, always has been, always will be.

Quagmire? It was shetline who posted that, dummy.

/ takes DMBand0026 on the ears and drags him out

    Exactly!

I saw who wrote it, but shetline isn't the problem. Haha.

/me bitch slaps DMBand0026 and segovius to their senses

Man, let go of Quagmire. It was fun for some time, but he doesn't have to be held accountable of something he didn't.

    Grow up guys.

Well if you ignore all the behind the scenes bullshit soap opera 12 year old stuff, then yes I'd agree with drewprops...

Remember that recent events, while unfortunate, came about because of certain people wanting what is best for these boards...

Of course I also feel like I can't say what I think, b/c it seems that I will be banned. The fact that an open discussion can't beheld about what's going on is ridiculous, like a leather jackboot is hovering above my throat. I hope that one day this schism can be healed, but until then...

I don't completely agree with drewprops, This is the best Mac forum there is, but I think it could be better if Mods would break out Ban Stick, and I ain't talkin' about deodorant, a little more often for the right reasons. Like the worthless posts we seen in this very thread. Make constructive posts, on topic or lose you privilege for 24, 48, 72 hours. Personal attacks are completely unnecessary. If you think anyone is breaking the forum rules you know where the "Report this Post" button is, don't you? Let the Mods do there job!

Leave quagmire alone. S/he's obviously either:

    a) not a resident of the US

    b) a resident but non-fluent speaker

    c) an alien that decided to make itself known through a 'Mac' message board (what 'Mac' means in their language I'm not about to speculate).

As far as 'The Best Run Messageboard'....please. A month ago this may have been met with cries of 'Hoorah!'...but today you get the Big Fat Eyeballs:

Seriously. There's been fuck-all around here except for bans and censorship. Not the AI I joined...

    and again...quit picking on quagmire...

you guys are too serious. they had smilies. that means "disregard anything that can be construed as mean in this post; it was a joke and may not be funny to everybody." i think quagmire, or quaggie as he likes to be called , knows its all in good fun.

as for the board. well...it is great. but it happens to not be here. the censorship and banning scare me. i tend to come here a lot less than prior to the... turmoil.

The symbolism of the jackboot and bayonet is inherently so powerful they need little explanation. This cartoon represents the efforts of governmental authorities in Poland to crush the Solidarity labor movement. In December 1981, the economy was deteriorating rapidly, and a confrontation between the Communist government and union was inevitable. Ten months after declaring martial law, the government formally outlawed the labor organization.

So, at the rate this thread is going, we'll have a graphic image of Brad as Christ crucified by Sunday.

The only reason to make this such a big issue is to continue to drive traffic to the other board. It's 100% promotion.

    And for that very reason,

i'm locking my first thread in months.

    Grow up.
