I know I've been rubbed the wrong way, but I just get this impression that everyone in Taiwan is a pretty decent, but not exceptional, electrical engineer. I don't just mean all electrical engineers fall into this category: I am saying that EVERYONE in Taiwan is an EE. That would also mean, consequently, that there are no industrial designers in Taiwan.
Yes, I have done business with Taiwanese electronics firms. We had an intern in the office last summer who knew Cantonese. That helped some, but according to him a lot of these guys were still a little "out there."
