    Exactly what hyperb0le said, this wouldn't be good for iPods. It's why they warned you shouldn't make it a boot volume. But I guess it would spin less if it was the Home folder but not Boot volume?

    the HD will be spinning whenever you plug it into a mac though kevin...way too much wear and tear on the HD

    On the other hand, maybe with 10.4, the iPod doesn't spin all the time in target disk mode.
