Best alternative to Windows Media Player

I have some .wmv movie files that run on Windows Media Player but can not fast forward or skip ahead. Is there a better software out there for X10.2.8 ?

    Yes, VLC and MPlayer. I am not sure if they will play any wmv file though.

    I have never been able to get a mms to work thru vlc so the windows mp might be the only option if you look at some streams.

    If your .wmv files are Windows Media 7, then VLC or Mplayer will handle them. However, only Windows Media Player 9 can play the video in WM9 files.
