Rumors are not products. Apple will not make an iPhone. There are just too many "systems" out there and two many service providers to make a phone that would work with all at a reasonable price. Next subject!

I suspect we will see one eventually. Unlike Microsoft with its Tablet PC, Apple can't afford to bet on the wrong horse. So until the phone industry settles out a bit, I suspect Apple is deliberately staying on the sidelines.

Well, for a while the website iphone.com linked to Apple's main site. If you go there now though, it doesn't show up as anything. Maybe they took it down to keep the truth concealed...maybe, maybe not. Hey, if you're looking for a good phone, get the Sony Ericsson T68i...mmm bluetooth...

I heard from a girl who i got drunk the other day that Apple will licence Microsoft's Stinger platform for its future iPhone product. I'm serious! She had just dumped her boyfiend who just happend to be an Apple-emplyee and just couldn't stop talking about computers.. Guess that's why he got dumped! *lol*

    Or.. I'm just lying.

Apple will never make a cellphone. They might make some insanely great connectivity software.. but never the hand sets themselves. End of story.

we can only hope if iPhone exists they use this chip. CDMA and GSM..... the best of both worlds!

    You've all misunderstood; it's an eye-phone. It's a videophone embedded in a contact lens.....

I believe there is an iPhone coming (or something resembling it).

    Why?

Because I was at an Apple info session on campus, and during the Q&A, one of the students asked if voice recognition will be added to digital lifestyle devices such as a phone. The first Apple guy that answered said he couldn't comment, but you could see a smile on his face (he is Apple's speach recognition guru). The other guy said while he couldn't speculate on future hardware, that you should expect Apple to continue inovating in "that area"

Why is there bacon behind your fridge?

The iPhone was rumored to be a new digital lifestyle gadget that can easily be connected to a Mac. It seems like that babe would make a perfect Xmas gift -- just as the iPod was one year ago. So if the iPhone should indeed be coming, we will probably hear from it very soon since it will have to be on time for christmas shopping. If not... Well, stay with that T68i, folks!

Every fridge has a piece of bacon behind it, no one knows why. In the same way that one sock will always disappear in a washing machine a piece of bacon can always be found behind a fridge.

Check your fridge, if it's not there start questioning reality and try walking through a wall.

hmm, well if he is the speech recognition expert i'd like to see whta's he's been doing since OS 8.5 ... Mac speech recognition at OS level doesn't seem to have changed much since then. Unless you are disabled and NEED that functionality only a masochist would attempt to do much with a mic and speech recognition. In fact, that guys's lucky to have his job if he's just been twiddling his thumbs since then ....

I'm not convinced by the Apple phone rumour. Reda an interesting if skewed article on the Reg yesterday <a href="http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/54/28056.html"; target="_blank">(article)</a> re PDA and phone development. Unless Apple goes down the Symbian route (or Sybian, and produces the iBrator at last <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" /> ) or a PalmPC licencing option, how will they even dent the market? Better to do what they are doing, buddying up to a couple of (relatively) larger players in the existing market and enabling better connectivity ....

Just look at <a href="http://www.mammals.org"; target="_blank">www.mammals.org</a> - What do you think Apple is developing here? <img src="confused.gif" border="0">
